Five Korean Action movies you ought to watch!

The Korean Film Industry in recent years has upgraded to a level that it competes with Hollywood. A highly developed and industrialised country with ultra modern lifestyle, the film industry has used every technology possible to make the best action and thriller movies. As a fan of K-dramas and K-movies, we EeZeEe girls have picked up our favourite action movies the Indian audience ought to watch. The list is in chronological order.

1. The Thieves (2012)
An 2012 action comedy with a star cast, famous all over Asia and the eight highest grossing film in the Korean Film Industry. Kim Soo Hyun, Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Hye Soo are actors and actresses we see in every other drama and they have a huge fan base worldwide. Eight years back they were as phenomenal as they are now.
This movie is set in South Korea and Hong Kong. A group of thieves from South Korea collaborte with another group of thieves from Hong Kong under their master Macau Park to carry out their biggest heist- to steal the Tear of the Sun, a valuable diamond which is owned by the mistress of Hong Kong's biggest crime lord Wei Hong. In the process, they get exposed to their two faced team members, the plot keeps twisting and the fights get uglier. You will also burst into laughter as its packed with comedy. Its available in Netflix, watch it right away because the best thieves are those who have the smartest brains.

2. Midnight Runners (2017)

You are not a Park Seo Joon fan if you haven't watched this blockbuster. He even won the Best New Actor award for his role in the movie. Park Seo Joon nad Kang Ha Neul who is also a famous actor did a splendid job in the movie.
Two students of the Korea Police Academy witness the kidnapping of a teenage girl at midnight and they set out to take matters in their own hands when they realise that the Police would take longer to track down the criminals and rescue the girl. tho both of them are amateur and are only students who are not allowed to resort to violence, they take the investigation seriously and find out the dirty world of human organs trade. The action is great and the entire movie is a comedy as well. One moment you'd be laughing and the other moment their action will leave you awestruck. We personally loved this one. Its available in Asian Movie websites like Viki, Asian Crush etc.

3. Steel Rain (2017)

Does the face in the poster ring a bell? Jung Woo Sung is an excellent
actor who has done many actions and thrillers as well as romance and suspense. If you see him in any movie poster, you know its going to be a damn good one. Jung Woo Sung won the best actor for this movie in the 23rd Chunsa Film Arts Award.
In the movie,  Eom Chul Woo (Jung Woo Sung)  is a former agent of the North Korean Special Force who escapes an attack on Pyeongyang (Capital of N.Korea) with his injured leader Kim Jong Un. he is bound to escape to South Korea where he meets Kwak Chul Woo (Kwak Do Won) the senior presidential secretary of foreign affairs. They both set foot on a mission to stop a war between the two Koreas for which Eom Chul Woo is willing to risk his life. This movie has an emotional touch to the story and great action. Its available in Netflix and Steel Rain 2 has released two days back in South Korea. We are eagerly waiting for the worldwide release.

4. The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion (2018)

This is a mystery action with our all time favourite actor Choi Woo Shik who also starred in Parasite and Train to Busan and the latest sensation from Itaewon Class, Kim Da Mi.
Ja Yoon (Kim Da Mi) escapes a horrifying night from mysterious laboratory when she was as young as eight years old. The owners of the lab consider her dead but 10 years later they find her and send a special team which is led by Choi Woo Shik to bring her back to the laboratory. One fine night Ja Yoon shows her super natural power in order to protect adoptive parents. She agrees to go back to the lab for the sake of the safety of her town and people and thats when the plot twist unfolds. The fight scenes are mindblowing and so is the plot. Its available in Amazon Prime. Go and watch it. Do not miss this one.

5. Extreme Job (2019)
This one is a worldwide favourite. The second most viewed film in South Korean Film Industry which grossed 81.6 million USD in the Box Office. This movie was so well received by international audience that Kevin Hart wants to remake this movie. Its a comedy action and we love comedy action. Dont we?
A group of young narcotics detectives who are not doing well in their career is provided one fine mission to prove themselves worthy and save their career. They decide to go to extreme levels to do the job right. For this, they even go under cover and start a Fried chicken restaurant business which takes off really well unexpectedly. With lots of ups and downs, this very restaurant helps them complete their mission. South koreans have rated this movie as the best comedy of all times and was also well received internationally. Its available in Asian Movie websites like Asian Crush, Viki, Kissasian etc. Please go watch it. You wont regret.
